BLOCK TO TEST F1 CAR AT LEGENDARY CIRCUIT
Despite an already jam-packed summer schedule—which happens to include filming of the next installment of a certain highly awaited video series—Monster World Rally Team’s Ken Block headed up to the Grand Prix of Canada last weekend to announce a huge addition to his calendar: A one-off chance to drive a modern Formula 1 car.
Going down on August 5th, Block will climb into Pirelli’s Formula One test car (a 2009 spec car, with aerodynamics up to 2011 standards) at the legendary race track in Monza, Italy. With Pirelli test driver Lucas di Grassi on hand to help him learn the ropes, Block will be unleashed onto the circuit at Monza to sample the full-range of Pirelli Formula One tires.
The Pirelli test won’t just be Block’s first time in an F1 car—it’ll also be his first time behind the wheel of any sort of open-wheel racecar. Block’s focus won’t be on all-out speed, but to just have a good time, keep it out of the kitty litter and maybe, just maybe, throw in a bit of hooning too.
